1. WHICH RULES APPLY TO YOU

Perfect Paradox delivers software in more than one way, and the refund terms depend on what you bought:

  • Apps (one-time purchase) — our buy-once Mac apps and this website. Covered by Section 2.
  • Hosted services (subscription) — services we host and run for you on a recurring subscription, such as C0RTEX (hosted chat) and SYN4PSE (hosted voice). Covered by Section 3.

Self-hosted licences (software installed on your own server) follow the same one-time-purchase terms as Apps in Section 2, unless your order or a specific product agreement says otherwise.

2. APPS (ONE-TIME PURCHASE)

Applies to our buy-once Mac apps, self-hosted licences and this website.

2.1 14-day refund

If you are not happy with a one-time purchase, you can request a full refund within 14 days of buying — no questions asked. Many of our apps also offer a free trial, so you can try before you buy.

2.2 How to request

Within 14 days of purchase, either:

  • — Email us at info@perfectparadox.co.uk with your order number (found in your Paddle receipt email), or
  • — Contact Paddle directly via the link in your receipt email or at paddle.net

No justification is required, although feedback on why the app did not work for you is always appreciated and helps us improve. Apps bought through the Apple App Store are subject to Apple's refund process — request those refunds through Apple.

2.3 After 14 days

Refund requests after 14 days are assessed case by case. If the app has a defect we cannot fix within a reasonable time, you are entitled to a refund under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 (and equivalent consumer protections in your country of residence). Your statutory rights are not affected by this policy.

2.4 Licence deactivation & your data

When a refund is issued, the associated licence key is deactivated. For these one-time-purchase apps your local data and documents are yours and remain untouched — everything stays on your Mac (or, for self-hosted licences, on your own server) and is never sent to us.

3. HOSTED SERVICES (SUBSCRIPTION)

Applies to services we host and run for you, such as C0RTEX and SYN4PSE.

The "everything stays on your Mac / your data is never sent to us" promise in Section 2 does not apply to hosted services. With a hosted service, your private, isolated instance runs on infrastructure we operate so that we can deliver the service to you. For C0RTEX, the specific subscription, cancellation and refund terms in the C0RTEX Terms of Service and Data Processing Agreement govern and prevail over this page in case of conflict.

3.1 14-day free trial

Hosted services include a 14-day free trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged. Unless you cancel during the trial, your subscription automatically converts to a paid plan and the first payment is taken.

3.2 No pro-rata refunds after the trial

After the trial, subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and are non-refundable — we do not provide pro-rata refunds for partial billing periods. The exceptions are where the service is defective or fails to conform, or where a refund is required by the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 (or equivalent consumer protections in your country of residence). Your statutory rights are not affected.

3.3 Cancellation & auto-renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically each period via Paddle until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. There is no charge for cancelling.

3.4 How to cancel or request a refund

To cancel or to request a refund permitted under Section 3.2, either:

4. HOW PAYMENTS & REFUNDS WORK

Our order process for both apps and hosted subscriptions is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for these orders: it issues invoices/receipts, collects and remits applicable VAT/sales taxes, and processes all refunds on our behalf. We do not store or have access to your full payment card details.

When a refund is approved, Paddle returns the applicable amount to your original payment method. Processing times depend on your bank or card issuer (typically 5–10 business days). Apps purchased through the Apple App Store are refunded through Apple, not Paddle.
